Our Story
Buying a home is stressful enough and a new build home should make things easier, but the sheen of a new home can quickly be eroded when defects, unfinished work or poor workmanship start to appear.
Block & Beam was created to give new home buyers clear, independent support before and after completion.
Founded by Jon Green, Block & Beam is based in Towcester and covers Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Oxfordshire.
The business was shaped by first-hand experience of the new homes process, both professionally and personally. Jon has bought several new homes himself and understands how frustrating it can be when a property that should feel finished is handed over with unresolved snagging issues.
One particularly poor new home experience involved serious defects, significant disruption and costs running into tens of thousands of pounds. That experience became the turning point. It led Jon further into surveying, building inspection and defect reporting, with the aim of helping other buyers avoid feeling exposed, unsupported or unsure about what they should accept.
Block & Beam brings that story together with decades of new homes and property experience. Our background includes new build sales, developer processes, site handovers, customer care, residential property transactions and commercial building consultancy experience.
Jon has also co-owned a commercial building consultancy in Winchester, is a qualified Party Wall Surveyor, and is currently studying with SAVA towards a Diploma in Building Surveying.
Most buyers do not want a dispute with their developer. They want clarity. They want to know what has been found, what matters, what should be raised, and how to record it properly.
Our inspections are structured, visual and evidence-led, with a methodology informed by NHQB, RPSA and RICS principles. Our reports are designed to be clear, practical and easy to use.
That is why our approach is built around three simple principles:
Survey. Report. Support.
We inspect carefully, report clearly and help clients move forward with a practical, reliable record of their property’s condition.
Block & Beam is covered by professional indemnity insurance, with clear terms of engagement, defined inspection scopes and a written complaints process for added client reassurance.
